I normally arrive about 10 minutes before each class begins; the venues will generally be locked before then. Arriving a few minutes early will allow you time to organise yourself before the class starts.
Bournville Quaker Meeting House: 65, Linden Road, Bournville, B30 1JT
The building is on the corner of Bournville Green, close to the junction of Linden Road and Woodbrooke Road, where the Junior School is. The door is kept locked at all times and you will need to ring the bell when you arrive. As a result, it helps if you can let me know in advance if you expect to be late. There is a small car park available on site. Please note this is usually very busy on a Tuesday and Wednesday evening. Alternative parking is available on Sycamore Road or Woodbrooke Road. The venue is served by number 11 and 85 bus routes along Linden Road, with bus stops close by.
Selly Oak Quaker Meeting House: 930 Bristol Road, Selly Oak, B29 6NB
NB: Don’t trust the position shown for this venue on Google Maps – it’s wrong!
The building will be locked until I arrive but the door is open during the class. There is ample car parking on site and buses 61, 63 and 98 heading south along Bristol Road stop near the end of the drive. You could also catch the number 11 to Sainsburys, with a short walk.
The meeting house is on a dual carriageway section of the A38, on the southbound side. From the junction with the A4040 by Sainsbury’s, you need to head south on the A38, towards Northfield and Bromsgrove. Go past the Christian Life Centre and the driveway will be on your left immediately after the next bus shelter. If you get as far as the dentists you have gone past the entrance. If you are heading towards the city centre on the A38 you will need to turn at one of the gaps in the central reservation.
The building can also be accessed on foot from Langleys Road, off Oak Tree Lane. There is some on-road parking there if you need to leave your car. Keep straight ahead with the Methodist Church on your left, into Selly Wood Road. Where Selly Wood Road turns a sharp left, walk straight ahead towards a sign for College Walk and then stay with the roadway as it turns immediately right to Buckingham Court (ignore the ‘Private’ signs). Follow the path on the right hand side to the end, where you will see a wooden gate that leads into the grounds of the Meeting House. This is much easier than it sounds when written down!
I have put a map to help you here
. It’s not up to Google Maps standards but has useful landmarks which should help you find us.
